Solar Submersible Pump Brings Reliable Irrigation to Remote Farm in Nigeria

Solar Submersible Pump Brings Reliable Irrigation to Remote Farm in Nigeria

Client: Greenfield Agro Farms, Kaduna State, Nigeria
Industry: Agriculture – Large-scale crop irrigation
Product used: YISA Solar Submersible Pump (DC 5.5kW) + Solar Panel Array

The Challenge

Greenfield Agro Farms operates in a rural area with no access to the national power grid. The farm previously relied on a diesel generator to power a conventional AC water pump. However, rising diesel costs (over $300 per week) and frequent fuel shortages made irrigation unpredictable and expensive. Additionally, the generator required constant maintenance and produced noise and emissions that affected both workers and the environment.

The farm needed a cost-effective, reliable, and low-maintenance water pumping solution that could operate independently of the grid and withstand local weather conditions.

The YISA Solution

After discussing the farm’s requirements – well depth of 65 meters, daily water demand of 80 m³, and abundant sunlight – our technical team recommended the YISA 5.5kW DC solar submersible pump.

System configuration supplied by YISA:

  • One solar submersible pump (max head 90m, max flow 12 m³/h)

  • Solar panel array (22 panels × 330W)

  • Stainless steel riser pipe and cables

  • Float switch for automatic tank filling

Installation support: We provided detailed installation drawings and video guidance. Our sales engineer also offered remote support via WhatsApp during the setup phase.

The Results

After three months of operation, Greenfield Agro Farms reported the following results:

MetricBefore (Diesel Pump)After (YISA Solar Pump)
Monthly energy cost1,2001,500$0
Pump downtime2–3 days/month (fuel issues)Zero (sunrise to sunset)
Annual CO₂ emissions~12 tons0
Payback period8 months
Maintenance costHigh (oil changes, filters)Minimal (cleaning panels)

“The YISA solar pump has completely changed our irrigation system. We no longer worry about diesel prices or fuel runs. The pump works every sunny day without fail. Our crop yield increased by 30% because we can now water consistently. Thank you, YISA team, for the excellent product and support.”
– Mr. Adebayo O., Farm Manager, Greenfield Agro Farms

Why This Project Matters

This success story demonstrates that YISA solar pumps are not just equipment – they are a reliable solution for real-world challenges:

  •  Rugged enough for remote African farms

  •  Simple enough for local technicians to install

  •  Affordable enough to pay back within one growing season
